according to urban dictionary:
spoiled brat: a kid who was bought anything they wanted when they were growing up and everything they see no matter what or whos it is they feel they must have and if they dont get it they will throw a fit like a brat until they get it.
for those of you who do not know my parents, especially my dad, let me tell you, this shit would not fly in our house! are you kidding?! for the love of God, i grew up on n.russell. in a normal family home. i remember wanting to buy "squeeze its" when we were little and my mom saying no that they were to expensive and to grab the TANG. my parents have done very well for themselves. my mom was a stay at home mom (probably one of the hardest jobs ever) until we went to school and then she started doing the books for my dads farming business and running the c.c.d. program at our church. and when my dad first came to the united states he was working on a ranch in nipomo. moving pipes, picking crops, and any handy work the man needed around the farm. i find nothing to be glorious about the job, or the $1.64/hour that he was getting paid to do it. the family he worked for were great people from what ive heard, but it was a hard job nonetheless. they eventually opened their own business and have done very well. ive heard my dad say that he has eaten dirt many of days to give us the life we have. it makes me proud to be his kid. what they have is because of their hard work. i get pretty annoyed when i hear people say how lucky my parents are. ummm luck!?!? yeah that doesnt really have much to do with it!
and with that little tad bit of background, it brings me to myself and my siblings. yes we have been very blessed with amazing hard working parents who feel that if they have the ability to, they want to help us as much as they can. but i would hardly call us spoiled brats. we are all very aware of what we have been given and very grateful to our parents for that. yes ive gone around the united states, ive been to canada and mexico, and to pico (portugal) many of times. i was bought a brand new car when i was 16 by a man that at the age of 16 got his first bike...to share with his 6 siblings. i also have planted 13 acres of squash one summer when i thought i would be a smart ass and do bad in school, my parents thought it would be a good way to show me responsibility. ive worked at our nursery, seeding broccoli every saturday for over a year. my brother and sisters have done all of this with me.
and now that i am a parent, i can not imagine not doing this for my kids if i could. why wouldnt i? is it a crime to want better for your own children?!? and to help them have that? i think not. i feel like people can say what they want to say. i know that we know who we are, that we know where we came from, and we are grateful for the parents that God blessed us with! and for those of you who still feel the need to run your mouth...kiss this spoiled brats a$$ :)
