have you ever stopped and wondered...am i really one of them?!? if it wasnt for my huge lips, that i get from my avo (my dads mom), or my snappy attitude, that i get from my grandma (my moms mom), i would probably be left wondering this more often than not! lol! my family is a perfect example of how 4 kids can be made from the same 2 adults and raised their whole lives in the same household, and still come out so differently.
my dad is f.o.b., or fresh off the airplane as my husband likes to call it, cause he didnt technically come here on a boat! he met my mom and after 6 yrs of marriage they had my sister b. although she is the oldest...she does not hold the typical oldest child role. she is laid back, care free, and pretty easy going. 15 months later, my sister angela was born. she has more of the personality of the oldest child. she wants to take care of everyone. she still packs us all snack bags when we go on trips. not that i am complaining at all! 2 yrs after that, my brother paul was born. he was the kid that hid behind my mom when people would talk to him. he was, and sometimes still is, so shy. and theeeeeen there was me! i always say that when i was born i made our family complete therefore my parents decided to not have any more kids. my sisters like to say that they stopped having kids cause they were scared of duplicating me! i am BY FAR the most outgoing, loud, obnoxious, and over the top one out of all of us! but duh...i wouldnt have it any other way! (dont ask my sisters..they may answer differently!).
My dad was always the disciplinary. lets be honest...he still is. luis often laughs at me because i still care so much what my parents think, so i ask their advice on practically everything. he likes to say i am scared of them. my dad always made the rules, but since my mom was home with us more than he was, she was the enforcer. so not the fun job. and she would always tell me that a mother never has a favorite child, but that you treat each kid according to their own personality. this is something i totally understand now as a mom.
i still often think of how crazy it is that we all came from my parents, and were all raised together, yet we still came out so differently. but honestly i am so glad. i would shoot myself if there were 4 kids like me, none of us would get a word in edge wise. or if there were 4 pauls, our family would be silent and never talk. or 4 angelas, there would be 4 to many chiefs and no indians. or 4 b's, there would be no fighting. oh wait...that doesnt sound to bad! lol!!
my sisters and i can fight until the cows come home (paul rarely gets into them, even when i try to talk to him about it, he stays out...such a man!) but let me tell you, i would be lost without them. the 3 of them are honestly my first best friends. i know that no matter what i can count on them, and they will always be there. it is because of them that i myself want to have 4 kids. i want to give my kids what i have.
